Coalition brings conflict between Mahra, Hadramout back to forefront

MAHRA, Feb. 13 (YPA) – An official document issued on Sunday revealed an administrative conflict between the provinces of Mahra and Hadramout, eastern Yemen, which are under the control of the Saudi-led coalition

A memorandum submitted to pro-coalition Mahra governor, Mohammed Ali bin Yasser by the  director of the Messila district, Fadel Salah al-Duhaimi, in which he  complained about the administrative interference by the director of al- Sawm District in Hadramout governorate, Anis al-Samahi, calling on him to take deterrent measures.

The memorandum explained that Al-Samahi and a number of local officials in Hadramout visited the Triot area in the valley of the Messila district and disbursed personal documents to the people, considering this a blatant interference and an act of aggression that affects what he called “the unity of al-Mahra land and destabilizes the historical relations that bind them to Hadramout.”

Al-Duhaimi confirmed that he will pay an urgent visit to the area accompanied by the administrative body of the local council and some officials to take preliminary measures regarding these violations.

This comes after a visit by Al-Samahi last Thursday to the Triot area, accompanied by security  director of Al-Sawm district, and they issued personal and family IDs for the people of the region issued from Hadramout.

The coalition countries worked to revive the historical regional hostility in the southern governorates, especially between the people of Al-Dhalea and Yafa on the one hand against the people of Abyan and Shabwa, and between the people of Hadramout and Mahra on the other hand to achieve their economic and military interests by seizing and looting oil wealth in the eastern regions of Yemen.
