Saudi delegation arrives in Aden city

ADEN, Feb. 09 (YPA) – A Saudi military delegation arrived on Thursday in the city of Aden, in southern Yemen.

Media sources affiliated with the Saudi-led coalition stated that the Saudi delegation, headed by Hamid Mohammed Al-Ghamdi, directed the Minister of Defense in the coalition-backed government to raise readiness and preparations for what he called “incoming possibilities”.

The sources indicated that the delegation arrived in Aden, on a difficult mission to deploy the forces established by Saudi Arabia from the extremist Salafist groups that called National Shield Forces, instead of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia, hours after its arrival in the city coming from the Saudi territories.

Saudi Arabia, with the help of the Maeen Abdulmalik’s government, is seeking to hand over the protection of Maashiq Presidential Palace, the residence the Riyadh-formed Presidential Council, Rashad al-Alimi, in addition to Aden Airport and a number of camps including “Nasr, Badr, Jabal Hadid, and Al-Solban” to the forces of the so-called “Shield of the Nation.

This comes after a meeting held by the Emirati ambassador to the Abdul Malik’s government on Wednesday, with the leaders of the STC inside a hotel in Khormaksar area, asking them to hand over some camps to the Saudi forces.

During the past few days, the Saudi-established National Shield Forces” carried out military exercises with live ammunition inside the coalition headquarters in Al-Buraiqa area of Aden.
