Nebenzia: Conflict in Ukraine will end only if the West stops waging proxy war against Moscow

WORLD, Feb. 08 (YPA) – Vassily Nebenzia, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, stated that the conflict in Ukraine will end only if Western countries stop the proxy war against Russia.

The Russian diplomat, at a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart Bassam Sabbagh, said, “We all hope to achieve peace. When those who promote this proxy war against us are stopped with the help of the poor Ukrainians who are dying for them and when they take a realistic stand on our fears, which we have made clear from day one, I think the prospect of peace will approach.”

Nebenzia noted that “ Now there is no willingness on the other side for meaningful interaction.”

Russia has previously sent a note to NATO countries over the supply of weapons to Ukraine, and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov indicated that any shipment containing weapons to Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russia.
