Dozens of UAE military vehicles deploy in Lahj

LAHJ, Jan. 12 (YPA) – Dozens of military vehicles of the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias deployed on Thursday in separate parts of the Habilain district in Lahj province, southern Yemen.

Local sources reported that the STC militia deployed the armored vehicles and military personnel at the entrances to the city of Habilain, the capital of the Radfan tribes, to prevent the entry of many members of Radfan tribes to support the angry popular demonstrations in the district.

Habilayn Radfan district has witnessed an angry popular uprising, which resulted in violent clashes between peaceful demonstrators and the militias of the “security belt” of the STC in protests against the killing of the young man, “Majid Rushda” and the deterioration of living conditions.

During popular uprising, hundreds of Radfan tribesmen in Lahj called for an end to the crimes committed by the UAE- militia against their sons.

The demonstrators raised banners denouncing the shameful practices repeated by the militia against the tribesmen, renewing their demand to hand over the leader of the militia, Mukhtar al-Nubi, who is accused of killing and kidnapping many members of the tribe.
