STC militia strengthens its military grip on Abyan

ABYAN, Jan. 12 (YPA) – The UAE has strengthened the presence of its loyal militias in the city of Ludar, Abyan province by sending dozens of vehicles and armed elements from the city of Zinjbar, the capital of the province.

Local sources reported on Wednesday the arrival of military reinforcements belonging to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) during the past hours, following violent clashes between the so-called “Security Belt” militia and tribal gunmen from Ludar.

The cashes left 8 dead and wounded, in addition to destroying a number of military vehicles, during which the tribal militants managed to storm the headquarters of the STC in the district, the sources added.

The STC militia launched campaigns of arrests and raids against all those opposed to its presence among the people of Abyan.

The Ludar city is still witnessing a state of tension between militiamen who arrived in the city and tribal gunmen, amid fears of the residents of the possibility of a return to confrontations.
