KABUL, Jan. 01 (YPA) – At least 10 people were killed and eight others wounded on Sunday in an explosion that targeted a military airport in the Afghan capital Kabul, Afghan security sources said.
Abdul Nafee Takkur, a spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Interior, which is run by the “Taliban” movement, said that the blast caused injuries close to the military airport’s main gate in Kabul, noting that investigations are still underway.
The Islamic State, which is fighting the “Taliban” movement, had previously claimed responsibility for attacks and bombings that targeted the Afghan capital in earlier, the latest of which was the armed attack that targeted the Pakistani embassy.
Last year, the extremist organization also previously claimed responsibility for an attack targeting the Russian embassy.
