WORLD, Dec. 27 (YPA) – US President Joe Biden declared a state of emergency in New York state and ordered federal assistance to complement state and local response efforts due to the snowstorm that has claimed more than two dozen lives.
The White House said in a statement that US President Joe Biden on Monday had a telephone conversation with New York Governor Kathy Hochul, during which he offered federal assistance in responding to the aftermath of the winter storm that hit the country.
The statement said Biden “called on the governor of New York to focus all federal government efforts to support New Yorkers as the state battles the effects of a historic winter storm.”
Biden said he had tasked his team with responding immediately to any request from New York authorities for help.
