Islah deploys its militants in Seiyun

HADRAMOUT, Dec. 12 (YPA) – Forces of the First Military Region, a unit affiliated with the Islah party, deployed its forces in the streets of the city of Seiyun, the capital of Wadi Hadramout, amid escalating crisis with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia.

Local sources said that Islah militants reinforced positions and security checkpoints on the roads leading to the city.

Sources added that the military move of the Saudi-backed forces came after the disclosing of plans for the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia to escalate against the First Military Region’s forces, which is demanding its departure from Wadi Hadramout.

The STC seeks to control the province, but Saudi Arabia rejects  the STC’s plan, and supports the Hadrami forces calling for the Hadramout region to address the STC project.
