UAE-backed militia torture young man to death in Abyan

ABYAN, Dec. 09 (YPA) – A young man in his twenties was killed in the southern province of Abyan on Friday after he was arrested and tortured by a recruit affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia.

Local media sources said that the conscript “Saddam Gharama”, member of the so-called “Security Belt” forces, arrested the young man, Hilmi al-Najdi, in the city of Ludar, and subjected him to brutal torture.

According to the sources, Al-Najdi died as a result of being brutally tortured outside the framework of the law, in an incident that is not the first and will not be the last in the city.

The incident was met with a wide community and tribal campaign of condemnation, which demanded that the conscript “Gharama” be tried for his crimes against the detainees.
