MOSCOW, Nov. 22 (YPA) – President Vladimir Putin has on Monday vowed to help countries suffering from food shortages due to the West’s reckless policy.
“We are helping and will continue helping countries facing the food deficit due to imbalances that are the result of unadvised – without any exaggeration, unprofessional policy of certain Western countries,” the President added.
The country is providing itself with the majority of commodities important for food security, he noted.
“We know that even before the sanctions, some countries and global companies used their monopoly privileges and genetic modification of crops to prevent competitors from conquering and displacing them from the markets,” he said.
The Russian president pointed out that the unprofessional policies of some Western countries have led to “disruption” in food chains.
Russian Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev said that Russia is ready to provide countries in need with 500,000 tons of grain free in the next four months, and President Putin announced that Russia will donate 300,000 tons of fertilizer free of charge to countries in need.
