Health Ministry announces closure of private hospital in Sanaa

SANAA, Nov. 08 (YPA) – The Ministry of Public Health and Population on Tuesday announced the closure of a private hospital in the capital Sanaa, stressing the necessity of upholding the values and ethics of the medical profession by public and private medical institutions.

An official source at the Ministry of Health stated, in a press statement, that the “UniMax Hospital” in the capital was closed based on reports that its administration deviated from the ethical values of the medical profession to the purely commercial method in dealing with the families of the dead bodies.

The source indicated that the decisions came based on the report of the technical committee formed by the ministry on the hospital’s detention of the bodies of the deceased on the basis of financial claims, thus exceeding the standards of human dignity to be followed and medical ethics.

He added that the ministry immediately referred the hospital administration to the disciplinary council, and the files of the dead bodies to the medical council to investigate each case, while the hospital was closed until the investigation procedures were completed after the case was referred to the Attorney General’s office.
