ABYAN, Oct. 29 (YPA) – A violent explosion rocked the vicinity of the city of Lawdar in Abyan province, southern Yemen, on Saturday evening.
According to local sources in the city, an unknown explosion was heard throughout the city and neighboring villages, causing panic and terror among the residents.
The sources said that the explosion may have been caused by an explosive device, but the nature of the explosion still not known so far.
Abyan districts have witnessed armed confrontations between the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s Militia and Islah Party forces amid Emirati efforts to remove Islah from the province.
Violent confrontations have erupted over the past weeks between the STC and terrorist elements in a number of districts of Mudiyah and Ahwar, resulting in the death of senior leaders of the UAE-affiliated militia.
