ADEN, Oct. 17 (YPA) – Militias of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) launched on Monday an unprecedented attack on the Socialist Party, which represents the majority of its supporters, and threatened to uproot the party.
Southern media reported that the attack came in the wake of the socialist’s offer of rapprochement with Islah Party, which is the archenemy of the STC.
Hussein Lakour, a leader in the STC militias, described the socialistas as “orphans,”who did not understand that the stage of climbing on the back of the south had ended.
Lakour commented on new statements by the Secretary-General of the Socialist Party Al-Saqqaf, who called on the Islah party to post a new alliance.
Al-Saqqaf’s statements coincided with the intensification of conflict between the Islah and the STC in Hadramout in an attempt by the STC to play in the south and push the socialist- the ruling party in the south before unity-to the forefront of the scene again.
