NATO launches nuclear deterrence exercises

WORLD, Oct. 17 (YPA) – The so-called “Steadfast Noon”, a NATO nuclear deterrence military exercise, begins today and fourteen countries and up to 60 military aircraft will participate will participate in the annual drills, which will last thirteen days.

According to a NATO statement, the exercises will take place in the airspace over Belgium, the North Sea and Britain and combat weapons will not be used in the exercises.

Belgian media report that the Kleine Brogel Air Base will become the training center.

According to The Belgian Coalition against nuclear weapons, US nuclear warheads are there, and official authorities do not confirm this information.

This exercise helps ensure that the alliance’s nuclear deterrent remains safe, secure and effective,” NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, stressing that the exercises had nothing to do with the current crisis over Ukraine.
