UAE militia suppress protest rally in Socotra

SOCOTRA, Oct. 11 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias suppressed on Tuesday a peaceful protest rally carried out by citizens in the Yemeni island of Socotra.

Local sources indicated the militias used live bullets to disperse the protesters in Hadibo city, which led to injuries among the demonstrators.

The sources said that the STC militia accused the protesting citizens of “implementing hostile agendas in favor of parties seeking to destabilize security” in Socotra.

The citizens of Socotra Island suffer from a state of deliberate poverty created by the Emirati occupation to force the people of the island to join the militias affiliated with Abu Dhabi.
