ABYAN, Oct. 04 (YPA) – Dozens of residents of Modiyah district in Abyan province, southern Yemen, on Tuesday took out in a protest demonstration demanding the overthrow of local authority officials in the district.
These protests come against the backdrop of deductions in the wages of education and health employees, and the deterioration of basic services and the rise in prices in electricity and gas bills.
Protesters loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) demanded the dismissal of the district director, Amin Abdullah Ibrahim, who is affiliated with Islah Party, the improvement of electricity services, and the cessation of illegal deductions.
