Saudi Arabia attacks STC’s militia

ADEN, Sept. 29 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia on Wednesday began to take new measures to reduce the influence of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia, as Riyadh’s retreat from supporting the council’s expansion in the southern provinces.

The Saudi journalist close to the crown prince, Salman Askar, said in an interview with the Saudi news channel that “the transitional does not learn lessons,” stressing that “its scattered leaders could not manage the city of Aden, let alone the rest of the provinces.”

Askar explained that the Saudi-led coalition is aware of the inability of the STC, pointing out that Saudi Arabia stopped the military operation launched by the STC in Abyan, because of what he described as the “stupidity of the STC’s leaderships” that act randomly.

A new measure has been taken to withdraw the STC’s factions from Abyan, he added

The developments come as part of Saudi moves to stop the STC’s expansion that was supported at the expense of other factions, following the inability of the council’s forces to impose real control over Shabwa and Abyan governorates.
