STC militia expels Tariq Afash’s militants from oil sites in Shabwa

SHABWA, Sept. 29 (YPA) – Forces affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) on Wednesday evening forced militants belonging to Tariq Afash, to evacuate vital sites, weeks after they were stationed in Yemen’s southern Shabwa province.

Sources said that the so-called “Southern Resistance” brigades surprised a force affiliated with Tariq Saleh stationed in the Jannah Hunt oil field in the Usaylan district west of Shabwa, forced them to withdraw and deployed to its positions.

The same sources added that Tariq’s forces returned to the city of Ataq, the center of Shabwa, after “Southern Resistance” brigades threatened them not to return to Usalyan district, stressing that they have priority to secure their areas.

This comes days after the STC laid off the same force of the “Southern Resistance” consisting of 6 battalions and left the Shabika camp east of the city of Ataq, with the aim of recruiting from the governorate Dhalea, which the commander of the camp belongs .
