Tsunami warning issued after 7.5 magnitude earthquake hits Mexico

WORLD, Sept. 20 (YPA) – An earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale struck western Mexico, shaking buildings, amid warnings of possible tsunami, according to the US Geological Survey.

The quake was spotted on the anniversary of two devastating earthquakes that caused large numbers of deaths, Reuters reported Monday.

The USGS initially reported the quake was a 7.5.

According to the USGS, the earthquake’s centre was in the Pacific Ocean near La Placita de Morelos, about 300 miles northwest of Acapulco.

The US Tsunami Warning System has issued an alert warning that a tsunami is possible along the coast of Michoacan, Mexico.
