UAE-funded militias control over military sites in Abyan

ABYAN, Sept. 19 (YPA) – Militias affiliated with the UAE took control of military sites in Mudiyah district of Abyan province.

Local sources affirmed that the militias controlled over Wadi Eumran camp of the district, following bloody confrontations with Al-Qaeda and Islah elements.

This came after the failure of more than one attempt by the Emirati-backed militias to control the camp, which is the largest military stronghold of Al-Qaeda in Abyan.

Earlier, several leaders of the armed factions affiliated with the UAE had accused the Islah Party, the branch of the Muslim Brotherhood in Yemen, of employing armed groups affiliated with Al-Qaeda in the confrontation that took place in Abyan, Shabwa and Hadramout, where the organization’s elements are deployed.
