Armed confrontations resume among coalition factions in Taiz

TAIZ, Sept. 19 (YPA) – Armed confrontations resumed on Monday between armed factions loyal to the Saudi-led coalition in Taiz province, southwest of Yemen.

Local media reported that Abu al-Abbas Salafist Brigades backed by UAE launched an attack on the sites of the so-called Taiz Axis forces affiliated with Islah Party, in the city of al-Turbah.

The attack coincides with new arrangements led by the Emirati factions to push Abu Al-Abbas Brigades to the city of Al-Turbah, which is under the control of the Islah factions, a month after UAE-funded Tariq Saleh” militia opened an office in the city of Al-Turbah.

In this context, a statement issued by the Abu al-Abbas Brigades said: “The Islah factions are seeking to exclude them from the scene and marginalize their military role in the city.”

The statement called on the “Riyadh-formed Presidential Council” to investigate what it called the crimes and violations committed by Islah’s axis forces against members of the Abu al-Abbas group, during the battles that took place between the two parties at the end of 2018 and led to the expulsion of Abu al-Abbas group from the city of Taiz.
