Local benefactor distributes free ice to residents as Aden endures 16-hour daily blackouts

ADEN, July 26 (YPA) – Residents of the Saudi-led coalition-controlled city of Aden, gather in the early hours each morning to receive free blocks of ice distributed by a local benefactor, according to media sources on Saturday.

Sources confirmed that residents wait for a local benefactor who distributes free blocks of ice to the community, due to its scarcity amid ongoing power outages lasting more than 16 hours daily in many neighborhoods.

Sources indicated that the price of ice blocks has soared to exorbitant levels and that ice has become nearly unavailable for much of the time in Aden.

This comes as families increasingly struggle to meet even their most basic food needs, amid the continued and rapid collapse of the local currency.

Sources accused the coalition countries (Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates) of pursuing a deliberate policy of impoverishment and systematic destruction of public services since early 2016, while failing to fulfill any of the promises made over the past decade.

Aden and other southern governorates under coalition control are experiencing an unprecedented collapse in living conditions and public services, while the pro-coalition government has taken no effective measures to curb the continuous economic decline.
