UAE-funded militia leader injured by explosion in Abyan

ABYAN, Sept. 14 (YPA) – A prominent leader of the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia was injured on Wednesday when an explosive device explosion went off in Abyan province, south of Yemen.

Local sources said that the staff of the STC-affiliated “security belt” militia in the Abyan Delta, the leader, Amid al-Radfani, was wounded by shrapnel in the head, after the armored vehicle he was traveling in detonated with an explosive device in Awmar of Mūdiyah area.

The victims of the explosive devices that targeted the “STC” vehicles in Mudiyah during the past two days are all from Radfan area of Lahj province.

Abyan districts are witnessing violent confrontations between the STC militia and Islah militants, in addition to elements believed to belong to Al-Qaeda.
