SHABWA, Sept. 11 (YPA) – A security guard at the home of the UAE-backed Shabwa governor was killed on Sunday under mysterious circumstances in the Ataq city, the provincial capital, east of Yemen.
Informed sources said that clashes broke out between the security guards of Awad al-Wazir’s house, which led to the death of one of one of the guards, Mohsen Nasser Khamis, without revealing the reasons behind the clashes.
The adviser to the Minister of Information in the coalition-backed government, Mokhtar Rahbi, pointed out that the assassination of one of Awad’s guards is the second of its kind inside his house since the beginning of this year 2022.
Al-Rahbi mocked al-Awlaki by saying, “He failed to manage a group of his own guards, every week clashes break out inside his house, so how will he succeed in managing a governorate like Shabwa.”
He attributed this to the recruitment of militias from outside the governorates of “ Dhalea and Lahj”, to spread chaos, sedition and murder.
This comes after the killing of a commander in the “Shabwa Defense forces” in an armed ambush at the end of last August, in Nisab district, while he was on his way to the city of Ataq.
