British unprecedented draft parliamentary resolution condemns Saudi violations

LONDON, Sept. 10 (YPA) – A draft resolution raised before the British House of Commons condemns for the first time human rights violations and the long prison sentences of opinion activists in Saudi Arabia.

The bill was supported by 10 members of the House, and it expresses great concern about the serious deterioration of the human rights situation in Saudi Arabia.

It condemned the harsh sentences against opinion activists, most notably “Salma Al-Shehab and Noura Al-Qahtani.”

The draft resolution considered that the reform program of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman would not be credible only if it required compliance with international human rights law and standards.

It urged Saudi Arabia to end violations and the unjustified prosecution of its individuals exercising their basic rights, and called on London to publicly express its concern about these cases of repression taking place in Saudi Arabia.
