Head of SNACC calls for media to counter rumors in dealing with corruption cases

SANAA, Sept. 06 (YPA) – Head of the Supreme National Authority for Combating Corruption (SNACC), Judge Mujahid Ahmed Abdullah, on Tuesday called on media and public relations departments from the parties to the National Integrity System to create a united media front to combat corruption cases.

This came at the opening of the first coordination meeting organized by the authority today on activating the media and public relations departments in implementing the contents of the national anti-corruption strategy.

At the meeting, Judge Mujahid stressed the need for media and public relations departments to work responsibly, professionally, objectively and with high accuracy in dealing with the news circulated in some media and social networking sites, and to expose, confront and refute media rumors in dealing with corruption cases.

The head of SNACC emphasized the importance of creating a national media front countering the aggression media that aims to dismantle the home front, as well as raising people’s awareness of the dangers of corruption and its effects in various aspects of life.

He noted that this meeting comes within the framework of implementing the contents of the national vision for building the modern Yemeni state and the national anti-corruption strategy 2022-2026.

In the meeting, Director of the Awareness and Education Department at the SNACC, Adel Al-Aqbi, presented a paper on the role of media and public relations departments in implementing the national anti-corruption strategy, while Director General of Information, Muhammad Al-Haidari, presented a paper on the role of media and public relations departments in preventing corruption and confronting media rumors.
