China condemns US arms sales to Taiwan

BEIJING, Sept.06 (YPA) – The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Tuesday announced its “strong” condemnation and opposition to the United States’ approval of an arms sale to Taiwan.

“China firmly opposes and condemns them, and we will take strong and resolute measures to defend our sovereignty and security interests,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning told a news briefing.

“The US arms sales to China’s Taiwan Province constitute a flagrant violation of the one-China principle and the provisions of the three joint communiques between the United States and China,” Mao added.

She stressed that the arms sales seriously undermine China’s sovereignty and security interests, severely harm US-China relations and peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, and send a dangerous wrong signal to the pro-Taiwan independence separatist forces.
