Death toll from attack on STC militias in Abyan rises to 36

ABYAN, Sept. 06 (YPA) – The death toll from the attack on militias of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council on Tuesday rose to at least 36, including several attackers.

Local sources affirmed that the wounded as a result of the take also rose to 15, including a number of the STC leaders.

A commander of the so-called “anti-terrorism battalion” of the “STC”, Yasser Abu Shaye, was killed in the surprise attack launched by unidentified gunmen, believed to be members of al-Qaeda.

Leaders in the “STC accused Islah party militants of being behind the offensive operation, while some considered that the armed attack was planned in advance by UAE intelligence to control Wadi Hadramout districts.
