Lightning strikes kill 23 people in eastern India

WORLD, Sept. 04 (YPA) – At least 23 people have died from lightning strikes that have hit the east of the country over the past few days during seasonal storms, Indian officials have announced.

Disaster management officials in the eastern Indian state of Bihar said the victims of the lightning strikes were farmers and workers and that they died during the storms that hit the state between Wednesday and Friday.

They said 11 people had died across the state on Friday in addition to 13 people killed in the previous two days.
