Israeli occupation navy opens fire at Gaza fishermen

GAZA, Sept. 01 (YPA) – Israeli occupation navy on Wednesday night opened fire at Palestinian fishermen sailing offshore the southern besieged Gaza Strip, Palestinian media reported.

According to Wafa news agency, Israeli navy attacked fishing boats sailing offshore Rafah city with gunfire and tear gas, seizing one boat carrying two power generators and 30 flashlight equipment.

The Israeli occupation  navy regularly harasses and attacks Gaza fishermen sailing within the six nautical miles in the southern Gaza coast allowed to them by Israel as part of its 12-year-long blockade on the Gaza Strip or three nautical miles in the northern Gaza coast.

Fishing is a main source of income for thousands of Gazan households in the densely populated, impoverished and besieged Gaza Strip.
