Egypt carries out fleeting naval exercise with US ships

SANAA, Aug. 28 (YPA) – Egyptian Navy has carried out a fleeting exercise with a number of American and Spanish ships within the scope of the Northern Fleet in the Mediterranean.

This came at the conclusion of the visit of these ships to the Alexandria Naval Base, according to a statement by the Egyptian Armed Forces on Saturday.

The Egyptian frigate “Al-Fateh”, the American destroyer, USS Forrest Sherman, and the Spanish frigate, ESPS Almirante Juan De Borbon, participated in the training.

According to the Egyptian statement, the military exercise included the coherent work within a joint duty force charged with the tasks of maintaining maritime security, as well as confronting threats that may affect the freedom of international navigation and the flow of global trade in areas of common interest.
