Human Rights in Sanaa stresses need to review int’l organizations work
SANAA, Aug. 22 (YPA) – The Acting Ministry of Human Rights, Ali Al-Dailami, stressed on Monday that the need to review the mechanisms of work of international organizations in the country, noting these organizations have shirked their humanitarian responsibilities.
During a panel discussion organized in Sanaa by the ministry on the role of the United Nations in Yemen on the occasion of the World Humanitarian Day, Al-Dailami said “The increasing suffering of the Yemeni people imposes on us the need to review the mechanisms of work of international organizations in the country.”
He pointed out that the accusation to the United Nations of the lack of transparency, accountability and integrity in the aid of international organizations came after these organizations shied away from their humanitarian responsibilities.
The Acting Ministry of Human Rights called on the United Nations and various international organizations to share the mechanisms of implementing their humanitarian programs in Yemen with the National Salvation Government to achieve transparency.
For his part, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Human Rights, Talaat Al-Sharjabi, indicated that the Saudi-led coalition’s use of starvation as a means of war on Yemen has doubled the suffering of millions of citizens.
Al-Sharjabi explained that “the United Nations operational expenses amounted to nearly 70% of the total aid of international donors during the last period”, considering that the poor implementation of humanitarian projects by UN organizations in Yemen is “deliberate.”
