General Union of Teachers in Aden affirms ongoing strike all of schools

ADEN, Aug. 19 (YPA) – The General Union of Teachers in Aden province, southern Yemen, affirmed on Friday a comprehensive strike in all public and private schools would continue all Aden schools utile achieving their demands.

The union renewed, in a statement, its demand for the Aden government to implement their legitimate demands, indicating that the strike rate during the past days in the city’s schools reached 98 percent.

The statement warned teachers and educators not to respond to any understandings with the Education Office in Aden, without referring to the union leaders, praising their continuity, steadfastness, and adherence to legitimate rights.

It also called on the government to restructure wages, settle their conditions according to the nature of work launched in 2011, and other legitimate demands.

The statement demanded all teachers in the city to adhere to their demands, as their demands were ignored by the coalition government.

The coalition-run government plunged the students of Aden schools into a real disaster of ignorance, as a result of its intransigence in not correcting the conditions of teachers in the southern governorates.

Dozens of teachers were shot at the beginning of August by the guards of the Ma’ashiq Palace in Aden, during a protest rally calling for the settlement of their conditions.
