SANAA, Aug. 19 (YPA) – A water truck fell into a sinkhole in one of residential neighborhoods in Shamlan area of Hamdan district, Sanaa province on Thursday.
Civil Defense Authority confirmed that the water truck on Thursday fell into sinkhole in the Shamlan area. The authority brought a crane to get the water truck out of the sinkhole immediately after receiving the report.
It pointed out that the hole was used to collect sewage, as these neighborhoods do not have Sewerage system; the residents depend on digging up holes from 3 to 10 meters deep and more for wastewater collection.
The Authority called on the concerned authorities in Sanaa province to quickly fill the hole or put quick treatments, to avoid the fall of people or cars in it, which endangers the lives of many residents of the neighborhood.
It also called on citizens and motorists to be careful not to stand long or walk with large loads in informal neighborhoods where sewage holes are scattered.
