STC militias take over several military camps in Shabwa

SHABWA, Aug. 10 (YPA) – The UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias took over a number of Islah militants-held camps in the city of Ataq, Shabwa provincial capital.

Local sources indicated that the UAE militia imposed its control on the camp of the 2nd Infantry Brigade in Azzan area, after taking control of the headquarters of the “21st Meca Brigade”, the camp of Special Forces and Police in the city.

The sources confirmed that the Emirati warplanes resolved the battle of the confrontation with Islah militants in Azzan, and other areas that entered the confrontation, indicating that dozens of Emirati air raids targeted Islah sites and several military points and the sites near Hadramout and killed a number of civilians.

Earlier in the day, violent confrontations erupted near the gate of the 2nd Brigade Infantry Mountain camp in the Azzan area, and in support of the Emirati warplanes, Al-Amaliqa forces and Shabwa Defense managed to control the camp, in addition to Khurma site near Azzan city area, which resulted in deaths and injuries, as well as several military vehicles of the brigade’s militants were damaged.

The confrontations that took place in the city of Ataq and other surrounding areas have left hundreds of dead and wounded on both sides, including civilians, for the last 3 days.
