Beijing urges US to shed illusions of controlling China using Taiwan

WORLD, Aug. 08 (YPA) – Chinese defense ministry spokesman Wu Qian said that his country has urged the United States to respect Beijing’s interests and abandon the illusion of controlling the country with Taiwan’s help.

“The People’s Republic of China (PRC) urges the US to truly consider Beijing’s crucial interests and serious concerns, to give up the illusion that it can use Taiwan to control China, and not to follow further and further along the wrong path,” Wu Qian said in a Monday statement.

Tensions between Beijing on the one hand and the United States and Taiwan on the other have escalated over the visit of House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan last week despite warnings from China, which considered the visit interference in China’s internal affairs.
