Kanaani: Iran’s response to the new US embargo will be firm and immediate

TEHRAN, Aug.02 (YPA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani affirmed that his country would show a firm and immediate response to the White House’s insistence on the continuation of sanctions.

Commenting on the US new unilateral sanctions against trade with Iran, Kanaani said the White House’s addiction to sanctions and their instrumental use is an indicator of the US hegemony, and the change of governments in this country does not make a difference in its approach.

The Biden administration’s officials have repeatedly termed Trump’s policy of maximum pressure as failed and ineffective policy, but in practice, the continuation and even expansion of this policy have failed, to the extent that even in the process of ongoing efforts to resume negotiations in order to return to the agreement, they do not stop this fruitless and destructive action, he added.

He continued: First, the Islamic Republic of Iran will show a firm and immediate reaction to the White House’s insistence on the continuation of sanctions, and secondly, it will take all the necessary measures to neutralize the possible negative effects of such sanctions on the country’s trade and economy.

Kanaani elaborated that these sanctions, at the same time as the Iranian people have suffered a lot of due to the flood, have clearly revealed the hypocritical nature of the US special representative’s condolence.
