HODEIDA, July. 22 (YPA) – About 50 Yemeni fishermen, who were detained in the prisons of the Eritrean authorities, arrived on Friday at Al-Lahya district of Hodeida province, west of Yemen.
Director of the province’s port, Mohammed Hashem Al-Mahdali, explained that the fishermen were received by several officials of local authority, and financial aid was provided them to transport to their villages and areas.
Meanwhile, the fishermen stated that they were kidnapped by Eritrean boats in Yemeni territorial waters, and were detained for a period ranging between 25 and 50 days, as well as to their boats were confiscated.
They pointed out that, during their detention, they were subjected to inhumane treatment and forced to do hard work in exchange for a meal throughout the day.
