Russian President arrives in Tehran

SANAA, July. 19 (YPA) – Russian President, Vladimir Putin, arrived on Tuesday in the Iranian capital, Tehran, where he is scheduled to hold a summit with his Iranian and Turkish counterparts, to discuss the developments in Syria and Ukraine.

It is also scheduled to meet Putin during the visit, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Earlier, Russian presidential spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said that the Syrian settlement process in the Astana format, sponsored by Russia, Turkey and Iran, would be the center of attention during President Putin’s visit to Tehran.

For his part, Yuri Ushakov, the aide to the Russian President, announced that Putin, Erdogan and Raisi would sign a joint statement after their meeting in Tehran, a draft of which has already been prepared.

Also, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov did not rule out that contacts would take place between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad after Putin’s visit.
