MARIB, Jun. 29 (YPA) – Senior military commanders in the ministry of defense in the Saudi-backed government sold large quantities of the Saudi-led coalition weapons in Mairb.
Informed sources confirmed that officers close to the coalition-backed defense minister Mohammed Al-Maqdashi sold large quantities of military equipment provided by the coalition countries, including military pickup vehicles and ammunition of light and medium weapons.
Four of its members were arrested on charges of smuggling weapons from warehouses, the sources said.
The sale of coalition weapons is the third of its kind in months.
Earlier, a large stockpile of its guns were stolen and shown up for sale in Marib markets in early March in a resounding scandal that has sparked widespread discontent.
