Two recruits massacred after being captured in Abyan

ABYAN, June. 22 (YPA) – Two recruits was massacred on Wednesday after being captured by unidentified gunmen in Abyan province, southern Yemen.

Local sources affirmed that the crime happened in the area of Khobar al-Maraqsha, after targeting their vehicle in an armed ambush which, between the areas of Ahwar and Shakra, led to killing 3 recruits and injuring 3 others.

The sources said that the gunmen believed to be loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council carried out the crime against the recruits belonging to the so-called “Third Presidential Protection Brigade” led by Louay al-Zamki.

The sources confirmed that the gunmen captured two of the recruits after targeting their vehicle on Tuesday evening and slaughtered them.

This came after the assignment of the head of the Riyadh-formed Presidential Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, the leader of the Abyan axis, Sanad Al-Rahwa, who returned to Shakra from the Aden Ma’ashiq Palace, to secure Abyan and redeploy the “Presidential Protection forces” to secure Ahwar areas.

The deployment of the militias of the “Third Brigade” angered the leadership of the “111th Brigade” of the “STC”, which described the deployment as a rebellion against the so-called Riyadh-run Agreement.
