3 gunmen killed in Marib tribal clashes

MARIB, June. 11 (YPA) – About 3 gunmen, including a top tribal sheikh, were killed on Saturday and 4 others wounded in tribal armed clashes in the city of Marib, local residents said.

The residents said that clashes erupted between tribes of “Al Mudhafar Jinah” and “Ghanim Ali”, against the background of tribal revenge.

They indicated that armed men from “Al-Ghanim” tribe set up an armed ambush next to Al-Haddad gas station, targeting the convoy of Sheikh Musleh Abbad Al-Ajda, which led to the death him, with 3 of his companions and injuring 4 others.

“Violent clashes are taking place so far between the two tribes,” the source added.

Tribal fighting and security chaos has increased and deteriorated in the areas under the control of the Saudi-backed Islah militia and forces loyal to the UAE in Marib.
