Military rebellion led by special security forces commander in Shabwah

SHABWAH, Jun.07 (YPA) – The commander of the so-called “special forces” loyal to Islah party in Shabwah province has declared a military rebellion against the UAE-backed local authority.

Informed sources affirmed that the commander of the “special forces”, Abdurabh Lakab , on Monday rejected the decisions issued by Awad al-Dahbol,  the director of Shabwah police, affiliated with The UAE-backed Southern  Transtaional Council (STC) militias.

Awad al-Dahbol appointed Nasser al-Khelaifi as the staff officer of the special forces and Nasser Awad Ahmed Habtoor, head of operations.

The sources indicated that Lakab prevented the entry of the decision-making committee to the special security  forces camp in the city of Ataq, the center of the province.

The same sources pointed out that the military situation is tense between the two sides.

Lakab is one of the most prominent security commanders  loyal to the former  governor of Shabwah, Mohamed Saleh bin Adeo, and his right arm in suppressing anti-party movements.

The UAE-backed authorities failed to remove Lakab from his post and remove his militants from the camp located in the center of the city of Ataq, and made it a special camp for the forces of the so-called “Shabwa Defense” after entering the city in early January.
