37 civilian bodies found dead in Congo after rebel attack

SANAA, May 30 (YPA) – At least 37 civilians were killed and others kidnapped during an attack by members of a notorious rebel group in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday, the army and Red Cross said.

According to the report, the civilians were killed in their homes in in the village of Beu Manyama, with machetes and live ammunition by gunmen from the allied democratic forces rebel group.

Army spokesperson Anthony Mualushayi confirmed the attack and said the army killed seven ADF fighters in response to the attack.
