SANAA, April 13 (YPA) – The United Nations envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, left Sanaa on Wednesday after a 3-day visit, during which he met several officials in Sanaa government to discuss the consolidation of a humanitarian and military truce.
In a press conference before his departure, the UN envoy expressed his optimism about the results of the discussions he held in Sanaa and the seriousness that he touched to build peace.
“Since the truce went into effect and despite the violations, the intensity of hostilities has decreased and there are no reports of cross-border attacks,” the UN envoy said.
He explained that work is underway to open Sanaa airport and preparations for opening roads and crossings in Taiz and other governorates, emphasizing that more oil ships must continue to enter the port of Hodeida on a steady basis during the armistice period.”
“My priorities after the visit to Sanaa are to establish the armistice and to follow up on the commitment of the parties to work on it,” he added.
