SANAA, April 13 (YPA) – Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson is planning to apply for her country’s accession to NATO in June, the Svenska Dagbladet newspaper reported.
The paper quoted sources in Sweden’s ruling Social Democratic Workers’ Party (SPD) as saying that the party’s leadership had made a decision on Joining the country to the alliance, adding that the request was planned for the NATO meeting in Madrid on June 29-30.
For its part, the Aftonbladet newspaper reported that the party leadership announced a private meeting on May 24th, in which representatives of the 26 party regions will discuss the party’s position on the issue of the country’s membership in NATO. Before this date, work must be done to ascertain the opinion of ordinary party members at the local level.
