Japan asks companies not to agree to pay for Russian LNG in rubles

SANAA, March 29 (YPA) – The Japanese government said that it is asking companies not to agree to pay for Russian Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in rubles, if they receive relevant demands.

“To date, there are no notifications that existing contracts with Japanese companies for the supplying of LNG from Russia will fall under the requirement to convert into rubles  Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno told reporters.

However, if such demands are received, the Japanese government would like to ask companies not to agree to such condition.”

Earlier On Tuesday, Earlier On Tuesday, Japan’s Minister of Economy and Trade announced a ban on the export of luxury products to Russia, starting April 5th, including luxury cars and gemstones, in the wake of the Ukrainian crisis.
