PM meets UN special envoy

SANAA, June 17 (YPA) – Yemen Prime Minister, Abdul Aziz Saleh Bin Habtour, on Sunday met with the Special Envoy of the United Nations to Yemen, Martin Griffiths in Sanaa.

During the meeting, they discussed the current in the situation in Yemen’s western coast and the Saudi-led coalition offensive on Hodeidah port.

Bin Habtour stressed that Yemen is still with reaching a political settlement and the peace of Yemeni people.

The recent military escalation aims to thwart the peace process and put obstacles to the efforts of Special Envoy, adding the situation is still with the honorable peace of Yemen people, he added.

He said that the escalation of aggression, both in Hodeidah and others provinces would be met by an escalation by the Yemeni people, the army, the people’s Committees and volunteers.

In his part, The UN envoy also stressed the Security Council’s desire to find a political solution to the Yemeni conflict in the coming months.

He pointed out that all sides should focus on the political solution and sit at the political dialogue table to bring Yemen out from its current tragedy and make peace for the Yemeni people they deserved.

Griffiths said the United Nations is continuing its efforts towards peace and intensifying its engagement with all parties to this conflict to end the current Yemeni plight of millions of Yemenis.
