Russia imposes sanctions on 313 Canadians, including PM, defense, foreign ministers

MOSCOW, March 16 (YPA) – Russia has imposed sanctions on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau , his defense and foreign ministers, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

“In response to the new sanctions hastily imposed by official Ottawa, which is apparently competing with Washington in Russophobic rage, and covering Russia’s top officials and practically all lawmakers, from March 15 Russia supplements its list of persons banned from entering the country with [Canadian] Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Foreign and Defense Ministers, Melanie Joly and Anita Anand, the statement explained .

The blacklist also includes 313 of the lawmakers from the Canadian parliament’s House of Commons and aggressive pro-Bandera elements,” the statement read.

“Any unfriendly actions from Canada will inevitably receive a consistent and decisive response from Moscow,” she said.

The Canadian Government announced a package of sanctions against Russia, in connection with the Russian military operation in Ukraine.

“The new sanctions include 32 Russian defense companies, five current and former officials and people whom the Ottawa government considers to be involved in Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision to start the military operation in Ukraine,” Trudeau said from Warsaw at the end of his European tour.
