Humanitarian Affairs Council holds coalition responsible for deteriorating humanitarian situation in Yemen

SANAA, March 09 (YPA) – The Supreme Council for Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation in Sanaa condemned on Tuesday the US-Saudi-Emirati coalition’s escalation against the Yemeni people, by tightening the blockade and preventing the entry of fuel and relief supplies to Hodeida port.

In a statement it issued today, the Council held the coalition responsible for the deterioration of the humanitarian situation as a result of the tightening of the blockade, the lack of oil derivatives and its disastrous repercussions on the health and service sectors.

The Council considered that the unjustified restrictions on the flow of basic materials, medicines and fuel, and impeding their entry to the port of Hodeida despite obtaining permits from the United Nations, as “a war crime.”

The statement denounced the silence of the international community regarding the coalition’s continued piracy on fuel ships, which resulted in a suffocating fuel crisis led to complete paralysis in a number of hospitals, interruption of water and electricity services, suspension of the movement of goods, and an increase in the prices of basic foodstuffs.

In its statement, the council called on the international community to carry out its legal and humanitarian duties to prevent the coalition’s criminal practices against the Yemeni people, work to open the Hodeida port and Sanaa International Airport, and lift the siege.
